Swines: demand rises for pork

After the turn of the month, the prices have risen in the swine production market


The swine production market products showed reaction in this august’s beggining, breaking the downward movement seen in the last few weeks.

In São Paulo, at the farms, the full grown swine is traded at R$122,00/@, a R$6,00/@ (5,2) rise in seven days. In the thirty day comparison, the price is 5,4% lower.

There was also a hike at the wholesale market. The special full grown swine carcass is being negotiated at R$9,60/kg, an R$0,40 (4,3%) advancement in seven days.

In São Paulo, a kilogram of a full grown swine is able to trade for 6,93 kilograms of corn in 2023’ august. For the month average, it represents a downward of 0,1% at the swine farmer purchasing power, on the monthly comparison.

In august’s first week, there were shipped 16,7 thousand tons of in natura pork. Daily, there were shipped 4,17 thousand tons of pork, a 9,7% drop When compared to 2022’ august. The average revenue dropped 9,1% in the same comparisons, reaching a total of US$10 million/day.

In the short term, there is a stability expectation, not discarding punctual hikes with the Father’s Day arrival.
