Chicken: stability in the month’s first ten days

With an adjusted offer and firm demand, in the last few days, there was a rise at the prices for the second week in a row.

The living chicken is quoted at R$5,00/kg, na 4,2% rise in seven days and 11,1% in thirty days. In the annual comparative, thought, the price stands 18,0% lower. Although there was a twelve month price drop, the poultry farmer purchasing power against the corn bran is better.

At paulista wholesale market, there was also a price hike. With the turn of the month, the demand standed firm and the retail industries perspectives is of stability, mainly for barbecue itens, with the Father’s Day arrival.

The frozen chicken has risen 6,3% and 19,0%, in seven and thirty days, respectively, quoted at R$6,25/kg. In the twelve month range, the price is 19,4% lower to the reference price.

Looking at exportation, the performance stays excelent. In 2023’ august, until the first week, 117,6 thousand tons of poultry meat were shipped, representing an 69,9% raise at the daily average, when compared with 2022’ august numbers. The price paid by tonne in dollars, thought, stands at a low-flow, with and 26,1% price drop in the same comparison. Despite the lower prices, the exported volume allowed a 38,0% growth at the daily average earnings (US$49,7 million) at the same comparison.

IBGE annouced, todat (10/08), data realted to chicken culling in Brazil at the second quarter of 2023. There were culled 1,56 billion chicken, representing an 4,7% rise when compared to 2022 second quarter, but, a 2,8% drop when compared to 2023 first quarter.

Looking at the short period, there is a stability perspective at the prices, without consider punctual hikes. The rise bias may be mild compared to the last days scenario, with the advance of the second half of august.
