Could it be worse?

Segunda-feira, 14 de agosto de 2023 - 16h00

In São Paulo, we can see more drops in the quotations at the weekly comparative, pulled by the price drops happening in the fat cattle market and the weak movement in the trades.

The weaning calfs, yearling calfs, calfs and feeder cattle quotations dropped 2,8%, 4,5%, 3,1% and 3,3% each. So, the categories are being traded at R$1.750,00/head, R$2.100,00/head, R$2,470,00/head and R$2.900,00/head.

In the females scenario, only the female yearling calf had a 2,9% price drop, being priced at R$ 1.525,00/head. The other categories remained stable with the botton price for the weaning calf being R$ 1.350,00/head, raising all the way to R$2.300,00/head for the full grown cow.

For the producers it only remains to wait for the rock botton, since the prices may continue the fat cattle’s market flow.

At Pará, all the categories had positive variations on the weekly comparison. The prices range from R$1.385,00/head for the weaning calf to R$2.550,00/head for the feeder cattle. The pasture conditions are bad because of the drought period, even thought the offer is good. There are not many trades because of pasture availability. With this scenario, lighter female calves are being conducted to culling.

Mato Grosso do Sul’s exchange relation

In Mato Grosso do Sul, the exchange relation has gotten worse for every reposition category and the recreationist/invernist is able to buy less reposition bovines with a 19@ fat cattle sale.

Today, it is possible to buy 2,03 weaning calfs, 1,86 yearling calf, 1,56 calf and 1,28 feeder cattle, drops of 1,6%, 0,5%, 4,0% and 4,2%, in the recreationist/invernist purchasing power.
